BODYFIRE

BODYFIRE
I feel like a gangster put the squeeze on me
I feel like a joker gimme the freeze for free
I feel like an agent gimme the secret key
I feel like a fire put the heat in me

The only way to go is up
The only way to go is down
The only way to go is nowhere
When Love is not around

Body, bodyfire
Body, bodyfire
I got this hot desire
I got body, bodyfire

If you’re looking for love, tell me where you’ve seen it
I think that I forget wherever I did leave it
I’m losing my direction, I just can’t keep it
And when I say I need you, you know that I mean it

The only way to go is up
The only way to go is down
The only way to go is nowhere
When Love is not around

Body, bodyfire
Body, bodyfire
I got this hot desire
I got body, bodyfire

Body, bodyfire
Body, bodyfire
I got this hot desire
I got body, bodyfire

Facts:

  • Bodyfire was originally written and performed by Alien Heat, although they never really nailed it and no recorded version of its original form survives as far as we know.
  • It is in the key of G.
  • It is no longer certain exactly what contributions Richard, Marc and Graham made to the creation of this song.
  • Jeff wrote the bassline and Don helped with the arrangement and made some of the chords at the end of the verses jazzier.
  • The sax and trumpet lines were created by Rowena and Simon respectively.
  • This song was worked on quite extensively by Dark Company’s first incarnation during the time that the band was growing its membership.
