THE END OF THE Q

THE END OF THE Q
It isn’t enough when someone says that they want you
But what they do shows you it’s not
They let you down and everything they do seems to prove
That what they do ties you in knots
It all seems complete but one little thing knocks you down
And they don’t want you

The pain that exists takes away all that you thought you would miss about letting go
And it seems to persist
I felt it before
This wanting to believe that you’ve got what it is that you want
But needing some more
It’s hard to resist that cage which bends us all in
When they don’t need you

Couldn’t you tell me before
You just get the strength to ignore
Excuse me for listening to you
But sometimes you just don’t have a clue
It cuts you down to the core
The pain inside feels so raw
Excuse me for listening to you
I guess it’s time to go back to the end of the queue

It isn’t enough when someone says that they want you
But what they do shows you it’s not
They let you down and everything they do seems to prove
That what they do ties you in knots
It all seemed complete but one little thing knocks you down
And they don’t want you

The pain that exists takes away all that you thought you would miss about letting go
And it seems to persist
I felt it before

Excuse me for listening to you

Lyrics by E. Williams.
Music by E. Williams/G. Davies.
This arrangement by E. Williams/G. Davies/J. Ings/A. McGill.

Recorded, engineered and produced by Joe Ings and Amy McGill.

Performers:

Emma Williams – voices
George Davies – guitars, bass
Joe Ings – synths, drum programming
Amy McGill – synths, drum programming

Fun Facts:

  • This song is in the key of Gm.
  • The bell-like synths were originally going to be a guitar part.
  • George hastily laid down guide tracks to build the song and the ideas were there but the parts were rather shabby.
  • Joe immediately understood what was meant in the guides and made them into synth parts instead.
  • Everyone in Clonk! loved what he had done so they remained.
  • This is another song that Clonk! never played live in an unplugged acoustic stylee as they couldn’t find a way to do it that they were happy with.
