Album: A for Acronym (CD 1: SNAFU)
THE BORROWERS
Belief weighs down the scales of wonder
You gotta move quick get out from under
Time cuts minutes of shiny brass
Happy at its appointed task
The hour-hammer hits a brazen gong
The notes ring out the day bells’ song
Corkscrew pulls out the cork of life
Sun’s ray cuts like a golden knife
Hear the music of the atmosphere
The rain is gone the sky is clear
Clouds of weeks queue far away
Will they go or will they stay
Counselled ministers’ social space
Never quite meeting face to face
Translate the years as stepping stones
Leaving love in the end-game zone
Trying to avoid the sad parade
Pretending it’s like some charade

Fun Facts:
* The lyrics for this song were written 10th to 14th September 2013.
* George would wail away to his baby daughter as she was going to sleep in his arms when the backing vocal part first came to him.
* On this recording it sounds like somebody deflating a cat.
* The guitars and bass were both one long first take that end when they end.
* The clean guitar in the left is the one that was played as Pete was singing.
* These need to be arranged a bit better…
* The three verses are repeated thrice.
* It somehow feels right, despite it being a bit odd.
