Fun Facts:

  • Bodyfire was originally written and performed by Alien Heat, although they never really nailed it and no recorded version of its original form survives as far as we know.
  • It is in the key of G.
  • It is no longer certain exactly what contributions Richard, Marc and Graham made to the creation of this song.
  • Jeff wrote the bassline and Don helped with the arrangement and made some of the chords at the end of the verses jazzier.
  • The sax and trumpet lines were created by Rowena and Simon respectively.
  • The horn parts were developed from the dirty guitar riff.
  • After Rowena and Simon were no longer band members, the horn parts were recreated using samples on the Akai S900.
  • A lot of the original music for this song was developed by George during his time as a street entertainer in the subways of Plymouth city centre during the long cold winter of 1990-91
  • There is something truly magical about the way in which the guitar and bass sound like they shouldn’t fit with the vocals or drums, but somehow it all works beautifully.
  • This song was worked on quite extensively by Dark Company’s first incarnation during the time that the band was growing its membership.
  • Along with Jigsaw, this song stood out from the album as having single potential.
