EASY STREET

EASY STREET
Jumped back in the alley
Couldn’t find what I was looking for
Thought I’d stay in the shadows
Living outside the law

Looked out from my window
See I’d missed the dirty rain
Only wanna walk in Sunshine
Won’t get fooled again

Easy Street
Don’t tell me this is Easy Street
Easy Street
Don’t tell me this is Easy Street
Cos I know better than that, better than
I know better than that, better than
I know better than that, better than that

Stepped up to the corner
To ask what happened and that
Put on my friendly face
But I stayed right at the back

Got some information
About humans and their race
It’s some kind of secret
But it puts me out of place

Easy Street
Don’t tell me this is Easy Street
Easy Street
Don’t tell me this is Easy Street
Cos I know better than that, better than
I know better than that, better than
I know better than that, better than that

Easy Street
Don’t tell me this is Easy Street
Easy Street
Don’t tell me this is Easy Street
Cos I know better than that, better than
I know better than that, better than
I know better than that, better than that

Fun Facts:

  • Easy Street was originally written and performed by Alien Heat.
  • It is in the key of A in the verses and Dm in the choruses.
  • The verses have some rather curious six-beat bars here and there.
  • George used two distortion pedals in the Alien Heat version to make the guitar feed back more.
  • The guitar parts are played on Nicodemus.
  • The arrangement was finalised on January 31st 1990, George’s 24th birthday, the same day as Jigsaw and Wonderlust, in Pete’s garage in Countess Wear.
