ZERO HEROES

Zero Heroes by Dark Company, from the album Can of Worms.

ZERO HEROES
Paint out the stain marks clean up the yard
Tidy up your face it won’t be hard
Turn your mind loose let it run
Check your footsteps the time’s begun

And the mirror, mirror
Mirrors how smart you are
It says you’ll be a thief or a movie star
Maybe be the driver of a big black car

And zero heroes are better on the stereo
Nero weirdos are setting fire to Jerico
Zero, zero – welcome to the rodeo

Cross out the numbers pick up the trash
Do yourself nice nothing must crash
Feed the fire let it burn
Taste the taste all must learn

And the mirror, mirror
Mirrors how smart you are
It says you’ll be a thief or a movie star
Maybe be the driver of a big black car

And zero heroes are better on the stereo
Nero weirdos are setting fire to Jerico
Zero, zero – welcome to the rodeo

  • After Alien Heat folded, Pete and Richard formed a duo called Hot Machine and the Silicone Dream.
  • They were heavily influenced by Yello.
  • Despite all the kindness, help and opportunities that Pete offered Richard, they underwent a number of personal and musical differences until eventually Richard was removed from the premises.
  • It was something he never really recovered from.
  • Zero Heroes was a song Pete wrote for Richard about the help and the happy place he was trying to give him, to allow him to heal and grow and for his talent to blossom.
  • George took Pete’s vocal melody and made all the guitar parts to fit it.
  • Zero Heroes is the first Dark Company track to feature Barry, the baritone guitar.
  • It is in the key of Dm.
