BEASTS & ANGELS

Beasts & Angels by Dark Company, from the album Mind Dance.

BEASTS & ANGELS
Ah ah – where the beasts and angels live
Oh oh – where the beasts and angels live
Ah ah – where the beasts and angels live
Oh oh – where the beasts and angels live

Far out in leftfield we deal
With problems beyond imagination
All that’s on TV that you can see
To us bears no relation
Inside the museum humanity sits
Exhibiting its present intention
What you don’t know and what they don’t say
Is that it’s all their own invention

Oh Mama!
It’s dark in here
And I’m afraid of the crowd
And all the people trying to get in
Make the turnstiles click real loud
The only light is madness
From a thousand monitor screens
Making us burn our fingers
On red hot terminal dreams

There’s a smell of ozone
From electric bones and flesh
Uniforms are issued now
For the regiments of stress

I stand and call your name out
Friends, you must run
The real me can’t stand up
Crashing out through all the fun
They’ve closed the doors and windows
Shut out all fantasy
Barred the emergency exits
That lead to sweet entropy

There’s a smell of ozone
From electric bones and flesh
Uniforms are issued now
For the regiments of stress

Where the beasts and angels live
Where the beasts and angels live
Where the beasts and angels live
Where the beasts and angels live
Ah ah – where the beasts and angels live
Oh oh – where the beasts and angels live
Ah ah – where the beasts and angels live
Oh oh – where the beasts and angels live

Fun Facts:

  • Beasts & Angels is one of Dark Company’s multi-genre songs.
  • It has elements of metal, motown, alternative rock and classic rock.
  • Dark Company are perhaps the most multi-genre band we have ever heard..
  • When Pete and Sammi were singing the chorus together, their voices sounded like a beast and an angel singing together.
  • As Pete was a Hell’s Angel for some time, it’s hard to say who was which.
  • The title of this song comes from a Kaballistic parable, in which a new pleasure is discovered.
  • A devil and an angel rush to the home of the person indulging in the new pleasure.
  • The devil and the angel begin to fight each other for ownership of the new pleasure, one proclaiming “It is a virtue!” and the other “It is a vice!”
  • Beasts & Angels seems to begin in the key of Bb, although really the key of the whole song is Dm.
