Wibble and Bling

Wibble and Bling
It’s just in my nature to get a little deeper
It’s in all the people all the time
We get a little deeper and go and hit the beach
And on the sands we sit and drink the wine
It’s just in my nature to get a little deeper
It’s in all the people all the time
Keep the fire going til the daylight comes
Keep the music flowing like the wine

Music loving feeling nature reason sunshine sky
Music loving feeling nature reason sunshine sky

We’re at home with nature, it gets a little deeper
We’re all here together getting high
Happy making memories we share our thoughts around
Good times just get better
Pass the wine
We’re at home with nature, it gets a little deeper
We’re all here together getting high
Keep that feeling moving round and round forever
Keep the fire going through the night

Drifting through the years
That day keeps coming by
Telling me it’s here

Music loving feeling nature reason sunshine sky

It’s just in my nature to get a little deeper

Words by Dave Danielli.
Music by George Davies/Dave Danielli/Graham Barbe.
Recorded and produced by George Davies at Wud Records Studio Three, Fore Street, Exeter in Spring 1995.

Performers:

Natalie Board – vocals
George Davies – guitar
Dave Danielli – bass
Graham Barbe – drums

Facts:

  • Some of the guitar after the “Drifting through the years” section was later borrowed, transposed and inserted by George into Another Star in the Sky, a piece of music that appears on Flicker’s At Least 1000 Words album, and is of a somewhat slower tempo than Wibble and Bling.
  • The key for this song is Cm and it was born when George sat and played Nicodemus alone late one night in the huge front room of the flat where Graham and Cliff lived in Fore Street above McCoy’s Arcade. That same night a couple more Ug tunes were born too.
  • ‘Wibble’ was something that Fay would say to express surprise or wobbliness or both, and at the time ‘Bling’ didn’t mean ostentatious displays of jewellery and riches, rather the unexpected manifestation of something agreeable. How language can change in a short time!
  • This song was titled by Graham and was one of his favourites. Exactly why this song received such a title is now largely mysterious.
